President Pimentel's Message

President Pimentel loves teaching the Gospel and bearing his testimony to the missionaries. This week the focus was on the Atonement of Jesus Christ. He taught the following principles:

1. "Our purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement..." (Preach My Gospel, p. 1)
2. "As your understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ grows, your desire to share the gospel will increase." (Preach My Gospel, p. 2)
3. "Through a modern prophet, God has restored knowledge about the plan of salvation, which is centered on Christ's Atonement..." (Preach My Gospel, p. 6)

The Atonement teaches:

1. Our sins can be forgiven: "Christ promises to forgive our sins on the condition that we accept Him by exercising faith in Him, repenting, receiving baptism by immersion, and the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost, and striving faithfully to keep His commandments to the end of our lives. We are relieved of the burden of guilt and shame, and through Jesus Christ we become worthy to return to the presence of God." (Preach My Gospel, p. 52)
2. Endure Grief - No One's Fault: "As we rely on the Atonement of Jesus Christ, He can help us endure our trials, sicknesses, and pain. We can be filled with joy, peace, and consolation. All that is unfair about life can be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ." (Preach My Gospel, p. 52)
3. Endure Grief - Someone Else's Fault: "I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men." (Doc. & Cov. 64:10) We emphasize again that, "All that is unfair about life can be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ." (Preach My Gospel, p. 52)

Christ has given us the gift of the Atonement (consider it a gift certificate). He has already paid for it. It is up to us to use it or set it aside and not redeem it. This is what we need to teach! Of these things he testified!
