"Rejoice, for the Hour of Your Mission is Come..." D&C 31:3

Sister and Elder Margetts

Elder and Sister Margetts from Salt Lake City, UT were met by long time friends, Elder and Sister Williams. How sweet to see them greet each other as they arrived at the airport.

Elder Margetts served a mission to Switzerland in his younger years. He and Sister Margetts will serve together in Dresden at the Center for Young Adults.

"The Church’s centers for young adults are not just protecting the rising generation from the temptations of the world—they are also preparing the Church’s present and future leaders to change the world." Liahona, Jan. 2012

Sunday Meetings with the Leest Branch, Berlin Stake

Elder Künzle, President Pimentel, Elder Weitzel

Visiting the Leest Branch is always a treat. It is a beautiful drive AND the members
sing, really sing.

Some photos of the building process are posted.

In the true pioneer spirit, members of the Leest Branch built their own meetinghouse under difficult circumstances…However,...the branch would not receive any supplies from the state building material providers. Gradually, members in Leest collected materials - a few building blocks at a time…it took them three years to collect the needed 55,000 cinder-like blocks and other materials before they could begin building. Often, a member purchased a single sack of cement at a time, with much gratitude, and added it to the collections of materials to build the meetinghouse. In March 1983 they broke ground for the meetinghouse and it was dedicated in 1990, 10 years after members began building it with their own hand. Taken from Church News, July 24, 1993

"And Behold, This Was A Joyful Meeting." Alma 27:16

President Jay D. Pimentel & S. Parks LeTellier
Nearly 40 years ago, President Pimentel and Brother LeTellier served
together in Stuttgart, Germany Munich Mission - for 6 months!
A friendship was created then and it continues now. They both loved their
mission experience and enjoyed reminiscing about it.
Advice he gives to missionaries is, "Don't short change yourself.
You are here not just to survive or to get through your mission
but to be bold in declaring the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  You are here to
make something of yourself.  Make the most of the experience."

"Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant" - Matt. 25:23

Elder Brinkerhoff
The Spirit was willing but the foot had other ideas. We
wish you a speedy recovery.

Senior Missionary Activity - Lutherstadt Wittenberg, Germany

Senior Missionaries in front of the door where Martin Luther nailed his
95 Theses in 1517.
This is the SchlossKirche (Castle Church) built between 1496-1509.
On the white band near the top you can read the (translated) words:
"A Mighty Fortress is Our God."
The Stadtkirche (Town Church), also called St. Mary's Church, has
twin towers. Martin Luther preached here. He would stand at the
circular podium.
At the edge of town, an oak tree was planted in 1830, to commemorate
Luther, a date of great significance for
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Reformation had to take place so that the Restoration could
also take place. President Monson said, referring to Martin Luther
and other leaders of the Reformation,
"Their deeds were heroic, their contributions many, their sacrifices great..."

"Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant" - Matt. 25:23

Elder Eggmann is returning home to Switzerland, a little earlier than expected.
It was simply an accident, NOT P-day related!
After extending his mission, he gets a ride to help him on his way.

"Happy Mother's Day"

Thanks Elders, for the Mother's Day flower!
Elders Künzli, McCann, Wride, Barnes, Van Miltenburg, Gerhardsson
Sister Pimentel

During Church this morning, men from the congregation sang, "Because I Have Been Given Much", a hymn by Grace Noll Crowell. It was a sweet tribute to the women attending. Thinking of the 200+ missionaries currently serving in the Germany Berlin Mission, we say collectively, "Thanks for your loving example and giving much." Now, it is our turn to give.

Elder Wride, currently serving in the Lankwitz Ward, plays the violin as a gift to you.
