President Pimentel had a great day visiting with the Elders and

members in the Stade Branch. He gave a fireside

about overcoming the barriers for those who want to learn

more about the Church.

Sunday Meetings with the Lankwitz Ward, Berlin Stake

Sunday services in Lankwitz was a memory maker. The windows were open, a light breeze blowing, distant church bells ringing AND a sweet peaceful spirit present as the gift of the Holy Ghost was given to a newly baptized member. Elder Jentzsch and Elder Wilson were happy to participate.

"The ordinance of confirming a new member of the Church and bestowing the gift of the Holy Ghost is both simple and profound. Worthy Melchizedek Priesthood holders place their hands upon the head of an individual and call him or her by name. Then, by the authority of the holy priesthood and in the name of the Savior, the individual is confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and this important phrase is uttered: “Receive the Holy Ghost...As we receive this ordinance, each of us accepts a sacred and ongoing responsibility to desire, to seek, to work, and to so live that we indeed “receive the Holy Ghost” and its attendant spiritual gifts.” Elder David Bednar, Ensign-Nov. 2010, "Receive the Holy Ghost"

President's Message at Interviews

President Pimentel taught about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. In many ways it is like a gift certificate, paid for and freely given. Understanding the Atonement increases our desire to share the Gospel. The Atonement gives us solace and strength. Solace for:

• sins that are our fault
• suffering that is not our fault: sickness, pain
• suffering caused by someone else

Strength:

• Atonement gives us strength and power to do things that we could not do on our own, see Jacob 4:6,7

All that is unfair in life can be made right through the Atonement. When applied, we have infinite solace, power and strength in our lives.

Elder Gerhardsson, extending his mission, walks to Mauerplatz with President Pimentel. Elder Gerhardsson returns to Iceland but his brother arrived in the mission weeks ago so he will carry on the Gerhardsson tradition.

Sunday Meetings in Berlin Stake Conference

Elders Smith, O'Neill and Wilson are having a quick planning session after

Stake Conference. It was a historic meeting as we celebrated the 50th Anniversary

of the Berlin Stake. It was created in the Fall of 1961 shortly after the

Iron Curtain went up, isolating members from the rest of the Church.

It was also historic as a new Stake Presidency was sustained. President

David Ruetz from the Lankwitz Ward is the new stake president.

Elder and Sister Lewis from California return home

after faithful service in the mission office. They certainly served

with all of their heart, might, mind and strength and they

will be greatly missed.

"O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all

your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand

blameless before God at the last day. Therefore, if ye have desires to

serve God ye are called to the work." D&C 4:2,3
