Office Meeting Spiritual Thought
Elder Roden gave the spiritual thought at office meeting this week. This quote causes one to think: "... the Final Judgment is not just an evaluation of a sum total of good and evil acts—what we have done. It is an acknowledgment of the final effect of our acts and thoughts—what we have become. It is not enough for anyone just to go through the motions. The commandments, ordinances, and covenants of the gospel are not a list of deposits required to be made in some heavenly account. The gospel of Jesus Christ is a plan that shows us how to become what our Heavenly Father desires us to become."Dallin H. Oaks, “The Challenge to Become,” Liahona, Jan 2001, 40–43
Additionally, these scriptures were related:
This is eternal lives—to know the only wise and true God, and Jesus Christ, whom he hath sent. D&C 132:24
and: "...charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen." Moroni 7:47,48

Zone Conference (Mission Tour) May 19-21, 2010
The overall theme of our Zone Conferences was "Faith." When we increase our faith the Lord will bless us to move whatever mountains that need to be moved in order to fulfill our purpose. Faith is manifest through diligence and work. It is a principle of power. God works by power in response to faith. "We set goals to show our faith. We follow up to count our blessings." (Quote from a Germany Berlin missionary)

Mittweida for Sunday Meetings
President and I arrived early for Church meeting in Mittweida. A few blocks from the chapel is this lovely park. We enjoyed a nice walk before meeting Elder Schimpf and Elder Shiverdecker. After meetings we were greeted by an elderly couple who had joined the Church a year ago. They expressed their love for the missionaries who serve, those who taught them and shared that they received their patriarchal blessings last week. The joy of service!

Visit to Bernburg, Germany
travelled to Bernburg. The 2 hour trip took 4 1/2 hours due to freeway traffic, road closure and a navigator that didn't know how to adapt. However, it was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the time. We not only got to see the countryside and small villages with cobblestone roads but we rode a ferry across the Elbe River (unexpected but necessary)! We also drove through a village that celebrated its founding over 1,000 years ago.
We were able to spend a short amount of time with Elder Mortensen and Elder Hatch before we all headed off to other meetings. We really did have a wonderful day.
