Elder & Sister Monson have completed their mission and returned home. We loved serving with them, as did the Young Single Adults in Hamburg.

Sunday Meetings with the Köthen Branch, Leipzig Stake

Elder Bossart, President Pimentel, Elder Fullmer

A beautiful day with amazing people.

"Wherefore, be of good cheer, and do not fear, for I the Lord am with you, and will stand by you; and ye shall bear record of me, even Jesus Christ, that I am the Son of the living God, that I was, that I am, and that I am to come...Go ye into all the world, preach the gospel to every creature, acting in the authority which I have given you, baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." D&C 68:6, 8

Zone Leader Council in Hannover

Zone Leaders, Assistants and Sisters
Elders: Skoczylis, R. Shepherd, Lloyd, D. Sheppard, Koppe, Cottrell, N. Johnson, Nethercott, Lersch, McCann, Ott, J. Baker, M. Smith, Healey
Sisters: Bush, Faerber
Elders (sitting): Locher, Carlson, Angerhofer, Jackson

Sister Bush and Sister Faerber were the Sister representatives at the Zone Leader Council meeting held in Hannover. It is important to hear their views and opinions as options are discussed that will influence the missionaries and their work.

Elder Ott and Elder McCann talked about character traits of Zone Leaders. Some of the things these missionaries like about their previous Zone Leaders are:
1) focused on the work and always ready to help others,
2) Spirit was strong in his presence, 3) an example of living what he taught, 4) obedient and a perfect example of what a Zone Leader should be, 5) positive attitude and fun to work with.
It is great to hear of the dedication and testimony that these missionaries have and are willing to share.

"For, verily, the sound must go forth from this place into all the world, and unto the uttermost parts of the earth—the gospel must be preached unto every creature, with signs following them that believe." D&C 58:64

"Rejoice, for the Hour of Your Mission is Come..." D&C 31:3

Back: Elders Linderman, Pollard, Scholes, Donner, Guccione
Beckstead, Sniatynsky
Sisters: Tidwell, Moon, Schneider

"I am ready to preach the gospel to you...For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth..." Romans 1:15, 16

We are excited to have the new missionaries here. We (Elder & Sister Williams, Elder McCann & Elder Ott, President & Sister Pimentel) anxiously wait at the airport. We gather briefly before heading to the office for check-in with Sister Monson and Sister Gibson (and later, Elder Monson and Elder Gibson). A full day is planned (including a short nap) before an evening of street contacting.
Thursday morning our "Goldens" (gold is precious, soft and can be written on and everyone wants them) take a walk across "no man's land" to Mauerplatz (the place of the Wall). Here we have a quiet time to hear the blessings pronounced upon this land that the missionaries help fulfill. Then, on to the Lankwitz building for companionship assignments, testimonies and instruction. It is a special treat to see the excitement as they leave for their first area with their Trainer - so happy to be here!

"Called to Serve"

After our meeting ended we asked the new missionaries and their Trainers
to sing for those at home. Thanks! We love it.

Mailing Packages to Germany

PLEASE mail all packages to the mission office address as follows:

Germany Berlin Mission
Elder/Sister...
Zerbster Str. 42
12209 Berlin
Germany

Packages that are sent to the apartment many times take longer due to transfers, customs, etc. At the office we can receive the packages and deliver them, usually within three weeks. It saves a lot of trouble and follow-up when you follow these instructions.

DO NOT send health related items! This includes over-the counter, prescriptions or herbal supplements. It is against the law! If your missionary will let us know what the need is, we can help find what is necessary. Customs today said, "Please tell your people to stop sending these items. It is against the law."

Thank you, thank you. We appreciate your help.

Sunday Meetings with the Oldenburg Branch and Bremerhaven Branch

Elders Nethercott, N. Johnson, Sister & Elder Thom
Sisters Smith, Child

Attending meetings with the Oldenburg Branch turned out to be a day of many opportunities. President Pimentel spoke at the Oldenburg Branch Conference. Elder & Sister Thom were there visiting from Bad Bentheim because Sister Thom is a member of the District Relief Society Presidency. The Sisters were there, along with many members of the Bremerhaven Branch for a sweet baptism, which we were happy to witness. The Elders were there, well...because that is the great area they work in.

We enjoyed listening to the choir sing. It was also good to see notebooks and pens come out as the leaders spoke. We have learned that action is an indication our hearts are open and we are willing to learn. What a joy!

Training in Bad Homburg, Germany

President & Sister Pimentel, Elder Manfred Schütze (Quorum of the 70)
After attending training meetings near Frankfurt with other
mission president's and their wives, we were privileged to visit the
Frankfurt Temple. Elder Schütze is one who played a key role in the
advancement of the Church in East Germany. He, alongside Thomas S. Monson
and others, worked to bless the lives of the Saints and help bring to pass
the building of the Freiberg Temple. It was a joy to be with him again.

Fireside in Freiberg

President Pimentel was invited to speak at a fireside in Freiberg on
Saturday afternoon. We had a great time with about 50 attending.
While we were there we saw Elder & Sister
Hoggan as they were coming out of the temple. It was also great to see
Sister Szvoboda and Sister Müller in action in the old part of the city.
