Zone Conference Messages

Visiting the missionaries during zone conference is a highlight. This week during workshops we heard missionaries teach each other various topics about finding, teaching, and baptizing. They teach from the scriptures and with enthusiasm! Their abilities are impressive.

President Pimentel explained the principles of Justification and Santification, becoming motivated from within; doing the right thing for the right reason. Sister Pimentel taught the importance of scripture study because it helps us receive inspiration and will lead us to the truth. Assistants, Elder Allenbach and Elder Hamilton showed the film, provided by the Europe Area Presidency, “The Quest”. The focus was on qualities of dedication and commitment.

We enjoy the sweet spirit that is generated by the missionaries. The "warm-up" stories they share demonstrate the Lord's hand in this work:

  • Elders Roden and Barnes in Bremen were street contacting. They started talking to a young man with ear buds. He took them out and heard the missionaries say, “We’re talking to people about Jesus Christ.” He responded, “You are the first Christians I have talked to. I have been searching for the true Church.”
  • Elder Dean and Elder Smith in Altona said that last Sunday a man came to Church. He saw a documentary on TV and ordered a triple combination. He said, “I’ve read it all and it is true.” The Elders said they have been praying super hard to find someone.
  • Elder Rückauer met a young man in Dresden and learned he was an exchange student a few years ago in Provo, Ut. While there he talked with missionaries. One of the missionaries was Elder Rückauer’s brother who was serving his mission in Provo.

We love the promise from the Lord to the missionaries: "Behold, I send you out …to teach… And whoso receiveth you, there I will be also, for I will go before your face. I will be on your right hand and on your left, and my Spirit shall be in your hearts, and mine angels round about you, to bear you up. " D&C 84:87,88

Zone Conference Preparations

President Pimentel and the assistants, Elder Allenbach
and Elder Hamilton just finished a meeting
at the mission home when the phone calls started rolling in.

Getting ready for zone conferences takes days
of preparation. The office is busy and everyone works hard
to get supplies and mail together for the missionaries.

Short Story

Thirty years ago Elder Badger and Elder Geurts served as companions in the North German Mission. Until last transfer, one had a son serving in the Germany Berlin Mission and the other had a daughter serving here.

Brother Badger gave his missionary son a referral, someone he and Elder Geurts taught 30 years ago. Elder Badger and his companion were able to find the lady and she remembered the Elder Badger who had taught her long ago. She is once again learning about the Church.
