The September Zone Conference was a spiritual feast. Elder Killpack and Elder Loynes taught about effective finding and that nothing is done in missionary work until we find. They showed a video clip that was fun and inspiring as well.
President Skibbe (1st Counselor), gave encouraging words in Neubrandenburg as he spoke of the progress and positive attitude change towards religion that is taking place in Europe. He is encouraged by the emphasis on members taking a more active role in missionary work.
President Apel (2nd Counselor), taught in Dresden that we must be like the salt of the earth. Salt preserves things and as we bring others to church and fellowship them - it helps "keep" and preserve them. Focus on the temple is also another way to helping "keep".
President Pimentel walked us through step by step, the process of defining "What is our Purpose? What are our Standards? What are our Goals?" Our purpose is given to us from the General Authorities of the Church. The standards are set by the mission president (after counseling together with the assistants and zone leaders). They are to help fulfill the purpose. The goals are set by the individual missionaries. As missionaries set goals to fulfill the standards, it will help them fulfill the mission purpose. In a more simple form:
PURPOSE: WE BAPTIZE
STANDARDS: WE FIND & TEACH. WE BAPTIZE & KEEP.
Another part of the talk was that goals reflect the desires of our hearts and our vision of what we can accomplish. When we set high goals, with faith they will happen.
It is the desire of our hearts: to find & teach, to baptize and keep!
